Liquid Fuel from the New Mexico Sun

The SunSprings plant will fully demonstrate Joule’s scalable platform – the first of its kind – using a fraction of the land and capital investment required for algae-derived biofuels.  With the powerful advantages of modular and linear scale, this platform can achieve replicable results whether installed across one or thousands of acres, enabling near-term deployment by eliminating the scale-up costs and risks that hinder biofuel production. The site comprises 80 acres, and will have approximately four acres of active Sunflow-E production. Following demonstration, Joule Fuels will be equipped to deploy this modular platform across multiple sites around the world, targeting initial productivities of 10,000 gallons/acre/year. At full-scale commercialization, Joule Fuels ultimately targets 25,000 gallons of Sunflow-E per acre annually, at costs as low as $1.28/gallon.
